FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I become a member of the club and order team gear?
A. Visit http://www.teamvelosport.com and click on the blue “JOIN TEAM VELOSPORT!” button near the bottom of the page.
B. This will take you to the Team Velosport / Ridebiker Alliance membership store. Select a jersey in your choice of membership level (Pro or Club) and your fit (Men’s or Women’s). Click on your jersey & membership package. JUNIOR RIDERS can sign up here: www.jrcycling.com.
C. Select the size required for your jersey on the following page, and click “Add To Cart”. You should see a message that the jersey was added to your cart.
D. Near the top of the page, hover over CART and select “View Cart”. This will take you to your shopping cart.
E. Click “Checkout”, near the bottom of the shopping cart page.
F. Follow the steps to proceed with the checkout process
Click “Continue” on step 1
Step 2 asks for your personal details. Be sure to enter the correct email address here, as your invite code will be mailed to this address. After this is filled out, press Continue.
Step 3 asks for your delivery address. Correct this information if needed and press Continue.
Step 4 asks for a delivery method. Choose your delivery method and press Continue.
On Step 5, enter any comments you may have, and check the box that says “I have read and agree to the Terms and Conditions”, then press Continue. Confirm on the last screen (Step 6) that your order appears correct, and enter your credit card information to complete the order process. Click on Confirm Order when complete.
The order should process, and you should be shown a screen that shows you the invite code. You will also be emailed this information as well, and a receipt for your purchase.
G. Go to the following URL: http://ridebiker.com/invite and enter the invite code you were provided.
Click “Redeem Code”.
H. You are directed to enter the details for your new account. Please do so and hit “Submit”. If you have had an account last year, you can use the same log in password as last year.
I. On the next screen, submit a profile photo if you like (You do not have to at this point, you can always add one later), choose whether you want your account to be public or private, and enter any additional information you like. Once complete, hit “Submit”.
J. At this point, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. After following the link in the email, you will be prompted to choose a password for your new account.
K. Congrats. You are now a Team VeloSport member! To go to the club store or club home, click on the two links in the header of the site.
L. Once at the club store, you may browse and purchase from the full collection of Team Velosport jerseys, accessories and other items.
What if I don’t race my bike?
Team VeloSport caters to all cyclists regardless of ability, experience and individual goals. The team often schedules leisurely rides throughout SoCal for fun times with those members who don’t race but love to ride.
Do you support junior cycling?
Yes! Team VeloSport has many junior racers on both the Mountain and Road teams who are developing their skills and growing, leveraging the expertise of the Old Timers within the team. Our junior squad has been named junior team of the year by USA Cycling in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016! The juniors have a specific junior site at: http://jrcycling.com/
Does Team VeloSport offer race reimbursement?
Yes. The payout varies from year to year but typically is around 40-50% payback of approved races based on a max payout per race of about $75 per event (varies from year to year). In order to qualify for race reimbursement, you are required to help the organization by volunteering at one event throughout the season.
Does Team VeloSport support grass roots racing through the sponsorship of local events?
Absolutely! The Santiago TT series, one of the longest standing events in SoCal, is exclusively sponsored by Team VeloSport as well as other individual races as opportunities arise. We also strongly support MTB racing at the Over The Hump MTB Series (http://raceoc.com/)
Is Team VeloSport non-profit?
No. Team VeloSport is a corporate structure. but we zero out our team funds at the end of the season by providing race reimbursement to eligible members. All our board members and managing members are non-paid volunteers. All monies generated through membership fees and races are put back into the team in the form of events, race reimbursement etc.
How many members does Team VeloSport have?
We are one of the largest clubs in SoCal with approximately 450 members.
How does one become a member of Team VeloSport?
Joining Team VeloSport is easy and we welcome riders of all levels. To join, see the JOIN TODAY button on our site home page. The membership dues year runs from January 1 to December 31. Membership has its benefits: Discounts, special rides, planned team meetings and parties and every member gets a team jersey.
Where and when are the club meetings?
Typically team meetings are held at the Rock N’ Road Cyclery Irvine location: 6282 Irvine Blvd, Irvine, CA 92620
When are the club meetings?
The club meets 4 times a year plus the end of the season banquet. Any members can attend. Meetings consist of guest speakers, prize raffles, product seminars and race and ride info from the team captains.
How can I get one of those cool looking Team VeloSport jerseys? What other clothing can I buy?
You get a jersey with your initial membership dues and once you are a member, you can purchase additional clothing (depends on time of season for availability). Clothing can be purchased thru Ridebiker Alliance.
Can anyone ride with the club? Do I have to be a member?
Anyone can ride with us. We only ask that you first contact us if you are not familiar with group and paceline riding or are not familiar with the local MTB trails.
